DESCRIPTION
Motto: The progress of humanity is based, in general, on new technical and scientific discoveries. Sometimes, however, the development of human society requires the reactivation of older technological systems, such as ecological agriculture systems, but the only effective ones in solving serious environmental and health problems (Toncea, 2002).
Research is one of the most important tools for the further development and spread of organic food and agriculture. Therefore, it is important that the research provides adequate support for the research and development of organic agriculture and organic food products.
Until the 1980s, research activities in organic farming were mainly carried out by private entities. Starting from 1982, the first universities included organic agriculture in their curriculum, and in the 1990s EU-funded projects in the field of organic agriculture contributed significantly to better cooperation between researchers at the European level. At the same time, an increasing number of national research institutes became involved in organic farming research.
The issues addressed in the agrotechnics laboratory:
- The effects of practicing organic agriculture: the subject matter includes understanding and documenting the impact of ecological technologies (eg manure application, mulching, use of cover crops, minimum tillage, etc.) on soil health, biodiversity and management of weeds and disease attacks and pests.
- Improvement of fruit growing technologies: includes the development of technologies, methods and systems for measuring, describing and optimizing ecosystem services, as well as researching methods to mitigate climate variability, within organic fruit production systems
- Studies on the development and maintenance of agroforestry systems within fruit plantations as well as the effect of forest curtains on the performance of ecological plantations of fruit trees and shrubs;
- Culture practices: the development of efficient practices used in ecological fruit growing technologies, with the aim of eliminating the need to apply products allowed to be used in the ecological system according to 834/2007 and 889/2008. These practices may include new cultivars/varieties/cultivation, culture technologies. The research should also provide information on the productivity, profitability and environmental stewardship impact of the proposed alternative.
- Research on development and implementation an integrated system for monitoring and controlling harmful organisms in organic fruit tree plantations in Romania in the context of the Green Deal Strategy, using intelligent agricultural technologies - Internet of Things - IoT (Internet of Things) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Identification and implementation of intelligent solutions for measuring and reducing energy consumption in farms and processing units, reducing the carbon footprint/food product and pesticide use;
- Smart orchards monitoring using: of orchards in an ecological system and, last but not least, technological transfer in the field of ecological food production and processing.
In 2020, SCDP Băneasa developed LABORATORY FOR RESEARCH AND INNOVATION IN ORGANIC FRUIT within the Research Department, considering:
- the challenges of climate change, which have led to increased attention on how people produce their food, constantly aiming to reduce the negative impact that agriculture has on the environment;
- the EU-level objectives for organic production are: better protection of consumer interests, ensuring fair competition between producers and facilitating the free movement of organic products in the EU;
- the fact that a significant number of farmers have established orchards in ecological system;
- the need to identify economically efficient solutions permanently adapted to current technological conditions.
As an experimental base, the laboratory administers an area of approx. 6,200 square meters within the Moara Domnească Ilfov Experimental Base.
În cadrul acestui laborator se vor realiza studii și cercetări privind cele mai noi tehnologii de producție a fructelor în sistem ecologic, fiind urmărite toate verigile din ciclul de producție.
